Mimi'sGuideAt the
Fremont Centre Theatre

By Pat Taylor

South Pasadena
Thoughtfullly and passionately written, partly form true experiences by Doris Baizley, and meticulously enacted by three compellng actors, this is a very good evening of theatre! The audience was spellbound throughout, as three people relive their personal demons as a result of the Vietnam War.
With excellent production values in all areas, the story and its characters totally mesmerized us for two hours.
Set in Louisiana in 1994, we meet a volatile and well-known author, the female sole inspiration for his writings, and the college professor who invited them to conduct a literary seminar. As they all become acquainted, their lives intertwine and stories unfold of painful memories involving Vietnam.

In stellar perfomances, Ping Wu emotionally plays the professor, Michael Genovese explodes as the author, and Lauren Letherer sizzles as Mimi!
Director, Virginia Morris, has inspired sultry, thought-provoking, well-paced portrayals from this skilled trio.
Richard Scully's realistiic bayou set, Peter Strauss' moody lighting, and the true-to-life sound design by Brian Benison round out the perfection. Folks...this is theatre...as good as it gets! Three intersesting characters whose pasts are heart-wrenchingly revealed, and futures are forever changed...just by the crossing of their paths. Try to catch this one!

Running Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8; Sunday matinees at 3:30 through May 14 at the Fremont Centre Theatre, 1000 Fremont Ave. in South Pasadena. For seats call (626) 441-5977.
