Anna Djanbazian
(Choreographer)

 

began her dance career at the age of three and took her first dance lessons from her father, Sarkis Djanbazian. She later pursued a BA degree in classical Ballet, Armenian and Russian Folk dance in Russia. Then she moved back to Tehran (Iran) and developed a career as a teacher and choreographer at her own academy for twelve years. There, she performed, choreographed and produced many shows including several for the late Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, Shah of Iran. In 1988 she left Iran and set up the “Djanbazian Dance Academy” in California, while attaining her MA in choreography at UCLA. She also formed the “Djanbazian Dance Company” in 1992, which is comprised of her academy’s finest dancers. Her choreographic works have been shown in Orange County, San Diego, Los Angeles and Glendale events and festivals.
Her dance academy was invited to perform at UCLA Armand Hammer Museum, Art & Cultural festival (1999), Under the Oaks concert at Descanso Garden (1999 & 2000) and House of Iran, San Diego (2001).
